Hickory Hill Pottery: News and Events

Hickory Hill Pottery will display our work at the Celebration of Seagrove Potters. This area show is limited to Seagrove area potters. Friday, November 18th will be the Gala Preview night, for which $40 tickets must be purchased ahead online at http://www.discoverseagrove/. com. Saturday and Sunday, November 19th and 20th of 2011 will be general admission days ($5 per person.) The Celebration of Seagrove Potters will be held at the old Luck's Beans plant on Highway 705 in Seagrove.

ABOUT US

Hickory Hill Pottery was established in 1985 by potter Daniel Marley. Being a first generation potter, Marley became interested in the production of pottery while visiting nearby Westmoore Pottery after school. One thing led to another and before long Marley was serving a one year apprenticeship with Westmoore Pottery. While working there, Marley received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to study the rich tradition and techniques of the Seagrove area potteries. It was here that he found his life's calling. In 1989, Daniel married Leanna Davis. Together they are committed to keeping the pottery tradition alive. Many of the shapes they produce today reflect traditional shapes of the area. The Marleys specialize in utilitarian wares. They produce a vast array of baking dishes, serving pieces, and dinnerware. All of their glazes are lead-free and developed by them for their specific use. Shop hours are 9-5 Monday through Saturday. Call for kiln openings and special weekend hours.
